One might think an author is a writer. The truth is the words can be synonymous, but they don’t have to be. An author doesn’t have to be the writer, like you ordering a custom sandwich at the local deli doesn’t mean you put it together. You decide how to make the sandwich; bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, stacked on a sourdough bun, and don’t forget the mayo, friend. In the end, you have a delectable digestible that you or perhaps someone else can consume.
Now, you can also make your own sandwich. But likely, the very reason you’re there in the first place is you don’t have the time, ingredients, or maybe the skill-set to perfectly lay the mayo onto that BLT.
Are you hungry yet? I know I am.
What if you have the idea to make the best BLT ever with smoked Korean BBQ pork belly on marbled rye bread? An author can be like that, the person with the right idea that they want to see come to fruition but don’t have the time, skill-set, or ingredients to make it happen. They could try going to the deli and ordering a seventy-thousand-word book in hopes that the person making the sandwich is talented enough to serve up Korean BBQ BLT, the novel, on a silver platter. The odds are you’ll get a sandwich and not a book.
Hiring a ghostwriter for your story can help turn that idea into a written work. You’re still the author explaining your concept while the writer is the one putting it together. At the end of the process, you get a book like you would get a sandwich at the deli, and it’s all yours.
